Injections: understanding them better to better appreciate results

By AESTHETIC MODELS WORLD RECRUITMENT

At Aesthetic Models World Recruitment, we aim to provide patients with the best possible answers when it comes to aesthetic medicine. What are the different types of dermal fillers that we can find in France?

Injectable fillers are a procedure designed to add volume to areas that lack fullness and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles on the face.

This is a non-surgical procedure, and there are several different types of dermal fillers from which the patient can choose.

If you’re considering dermal fillers in the near future, it’s important to understand the different types of dermal fillers available and what they’re designed for.

Hyaluronic acid (HA)

Hyaluronic acid, also known as HA, is a substance naturally present in our bodies.

Hyaluronic acids vary in density and concentration. Each will be used according to the indication (depth of wrinkle or extent of volume loss). A distinction can be made between “filling” and “volumizing” products.

For the lips, fluid products are injected, providing a natural result. The quantity of product injected will depend on the correction request and the desired final result.

The areas most frequently treated with hyaluronic acid injections can be divided into four categories:

  • Furrows: nasolabial folds (from the wing of the nose to the corner of the mouth), bitterness folds (from the corner of the mouth to either side of the chin), labiomental fold…
  • Wrinkles and fine lines: forehead, “frown lines” (between the eyebrows), “crow’s feet” (at the corner of the eyes), cheeks, chin, “sun creases” around the mouth.
  • Lips: redraw the hemline (contour), thicken them if they are too thin, or make them fuller.
  • Depressions (hollows) or lack of volume: are also treated with hyaluronic acid. Dark circles, cheekbones, chin, mandibular contour, cheeks, nose, scarring after-effects (acne, chickenpox, trauma, etc.).
Generally, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers last about 6 to 12 months, but can last up to 2 years, depending on the type of injectable filler used and the injection site.

Calcium hydroxylapatite (Caha)

Calcium hydroxyapatite is naturally present in our bones. Like any other type of filler injection, these dermal fillers can cause skin rejuvenation and elastin stimulation, giving people a more youthful appearance. These dermal fillers usually last 12 to 18 months and are used for deeper wrinkles or are hyper-diluted for neck or hand rejuvenation.

poly-l-lactic acid (plla)

Poly-L-lactic acid, commonly known as PLLA, helps the body create collagen. Collagen, the most abundant protein in the body, is used to create connective tissue. When used as dermal filler injections, PLLA can smooth even deep facial wrinkles. These fillers can have a positive effect on facial wrinkles for up to 2 years.

The best type of filler depends on your needs and the extent of your volume loss or the area of skin you wish to add volume to.

Whatever type of dermal filler you choose, and whatever the desired result, it’s important to opt for fillers from reputable brands!
